Attention!!
The rabies data
is provided by each country and then processed into a database based on
administrative units with certain regional codes, not as single
geo-referenced objects. Therefore the resulting maps display each case as a
randomly pinpointed dot within the reported administrative unit (NUTS).
Depending on the size of the country and the respective administrative
units, discrepancies in the location of the actual rabies cases and those
displayed may occur.
Please also note
that whenever regional codes or administrative units change, great effort is
needed to make data queries possible. For instance, when extending the
database retrograde, certain countries, that seized to exist, need to be
included. Essential information, such as adequate shape-files of these
countries or regions are not available thus making it impossible to display
the rabies cases with this tool. For such queries it is advisable to use the
original maps or data from the hard copy RBE instead.
